ABOUT

Our Mission

Who are we?We are a group of concerned citizens, pet owners and animal lovers who decided to do something about the increasing number of stray and abandoned pets in our area(s). We currently work mainly with cats. Where are we?  We currently operate out of Wawota, SK and serve the surrounding rural area(s) while working with other rescues from Regina, Yorkton, and even British Columbia. Our rescue is not a shelter, we are built on a foster home system, so the animals are exposed to a home environment and can learn how to behave when they go home with their new family. What do we do?  A+ Animal Rescue provides shelter and medical care to abused, abandoned, neglected pets with the goal of finding them new, loving homes. We do our best to educate the public on the importance of responsible pet ownership, such as regular vet visits, spaying and neutering.  We also assist local communities with feral cat populations by trapping, neutering and releasing male cats in order to stop the colony from growing.  Why do we do what we do?   We started A+ Animal Rescue because we noticed a steadily increasing number of stray and abandoned pets reproducing as a result of irresponsible ownership and old-fashioned attitudes toward animal care.  These animals with no proper vet care can easily overpopulate an area and spread preventable diseases to family pets as well as people.  Abandoned animals can even cause property damage, looking for a place to shelter during our extreme Saskatchewan temperatures.  The environment is also at risk when feral pet numbers rise, as these animals integrate themselves into the ecosystem hunting for food.
